Celebrating One Year of Ionic Legal

Wow we cannot believe it has been a year since we started.
We finally decided to do it last year. After years of talking, thinking, and hesitating, we took the leap. It’s been a rollercoaster, but an incredible one. The past twelve months have exceeded all our expectations in every way.
We couldn’t have done it without our family, friends, clients, overseas associate firms, and colleagues. Your support, trust, and belief in us made all the difference and we are deeply grateful.
When we launched Ionic Legal, our goal was simple: to create a law firm that reflected our values. After decades working in large firms, we knew we wanted something different. We wanted autonomy, the ability to move quickly, to build deep, personal client relationships with clients we enjoy working with, and to work with like-minded people in a culture we genuinely believed in.
And now, one year on, we’re proud to say that’s exactly what we’ve built. There is such joy in seeing this vision come to life. We have never felt closer to our clients or more energised by our work. It’s been a transformative year and we just wish we’d done it sooner.
The growth has been remarkable. We’ve welcomed incredible talent into the team in Andrew Stone, Annalisa Checchi, Chandni Jobanputra, Emily Rollason, Irene Albesiano and Becca Vanstone Vosper, Sofia Crozier, Eve Mercier and several others. Most of these are former colleagues who, like us, were looking for something different and bought into our vision. Our client list continues to grow, and we’ve had the privilege of advising some exceptional businesses in the fashion, restaurant, skincare, and technology sectors.
Of course, launching a new firm came with challenges, thanks to Excello Law, who gave us outstanding support through their incubator programme, we were able to hit the ground running. Their backing gave us the headspace to focus on what really mattered – our clients, our team, and our vision.
We’ve built a firm that puts people and purpose first, and created a culture that is dynamic and collaborative.
Highlights from Year One
- Ionic Legal recommended in the WIPR rankings for both contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters
- Annalisa Checchi joined the team, bringing exceptional technology and commercial expertise
- Recognised in Legal 500 and Chambers once again with our founding partners being leaders in their field.
Looking ahead, the momentum is with us. We’re continuing to grow steadily and sustainably. We’re expanding our team, bringing in new clients, new colleagues and exploring international opportunities.
This firm began with a belief: that there is a better way to do things. One year in, we’ve proved that belief right. We’ve built something we’re deeply proud of, and we’ve done it surrounded by people we trust and respect.
When we reflect on the last 12 months, it’s not just about growth or rankings, but having the freedom to do work we love, for clients we truly value, in a way that feels authentic to who we are.
Above all, it’s been exciting, fun, and rewarding.
We are looking forward to everything still to come.
